Hey Reader, Pinterest quietly released a new set of AI personalization tools that let users fine-tune what appears in their home feed — even turn some of the automated recommendations off. At first glance, that might sound like bad news for creators. If users can block or reduce recommendations, will our content still be seen? Actually… this update gives us more control than we’ve had in the last year. And honestly, it’s arriving at the perfect time. Over the past several months, AI-generated content has flooded nearly every platform. Low-quality “AI slop” sites — mass-produced blogs, duplicate pins, and fake lifestyle accounts have clogged Pinterest feeds, stolen content from real creators, and frustrated users who just want authentic inspiration. It’s not just spammy accounts, either. Even top creators are being targeted. Recently, Pinch of Yum discovered an AI-generated site that imitated her entire brand... down to creating fake AI photos of her family. It’s disturbing, and it shows how far this problem has gone. You’ve probably felt it too:
The AI content boom has created noise. But Pinterest’s new AI settings might just be the first real step toward cutting through it. Here’s why this update is actually good news for creators: When audiences can tell Pinterest exactly what they want to see, the algorithm doesn’t have to guess. That means it’s less likely to mis-categorize your content or bury it under slop you don’t belong under. How to Make This Work for You1. Help your audience tune their feeds. Encourage followers to explore the “Tune your home feed” settings. When they add or confirm interests that match your niche or turn off categories they don’t care about — Pinterest learns who your content is truly for. 2. Create with intent. When users train their feeds to focus on specific interests, every engagement becomes a stronger signal for Pinterest. Saves and clicks on quality, relevant Pins carry more weight than ever before. 3. Position yourself as a helpful guide.Talk openly about these updates in your own content. Share a story, post, or carousel about how AI content has affected your results and how users can personalize their experience to see more creators they actually love. It builds trust and it strengthens your connection with the right audience. Pinterest isn’t working against us. It’s evolving to give users and in turn, creators — a clearer feedback loop. Preferably one without AI slop. Users across the internet have begged platforms for account-level AI controls, and Pinterest is the first to actually deliver. If we lean into this change, we can help our audiences curate better feeds and help Pinterest rediscover the human side of creativity again. Keep an eye out for Wednesday’s email — I’ll be sharing how I use AI inside my own Pinterest workflow to plan strategy and speed up content creation. Until then, Heather |

Hello Reader, Let’s be honest — Pinterest SEO can feel like guesswork sometimes. You do your keyword research, find 50 ideas, and then… freeze.Which ones actually matter?Which ones will help your content show up when your audience searches for it?And which ones are just vanity keywords everyone else is chasing? Here’s the truth: Pinterest doesn’t reward you for using more keywords. It rewards you for using them smarter. And that comes down to how you organize them. Most creators scatter their...
Hi Reader, This week, we talked a lot about AI — how Pinterest is changing, how creators can adapt, and how tools like The Pin Bot can make marketing simpler. But I want to end the week with a reminder:AI can make you faster. AI can help you to get inspired. But it will never make you you. The best performing Pins on Pinterest aren’t perfect. Most of the time they're the ugly duds you thought wouldn't do well anyways. They’re personal. They make people feel something... curiosity, nostalgia,...
