Hello Reader, The non-profits, corporations and heads of state as well as the scientists, academics and cultural influencers are meeting at The World Economic Forum and the Pinterest CEO Bill Ready spoke to a journalist today. In essence here's what he shared:
He dodged the question of what will happen at Pinterest as a result of a TikTok ban recentering the focus on why people choose this platform in the first place. Obviously all platforms hope to gain users if TikTok gets banned but the truth of the matter is, that isn't a guarantee. People need a reason to use your platform and the reason they use Pinterest vs other platforms is distinct. He's laser focused on why Pinterest users are on the platform and so am I. Why use Pinterest as a business?User Intent to Shop - 50% of users have intent to shop Positive and Brand-Safe Environment - This is big for those of us with kids using the app. Both of my daughters are using private accounts that are designed to keep kids safe. This is the most well-rounded plan a platform has given to parents. You should know though if you are reading this that your kids are seeing TikTok videos even if they do not have TikTok... right on Pinterest. You should be aware. Highly Engaged Audience - Pinterest users are action-oriented, using the platform to plan purchases or projects, making them more likely to convert into paying customers. Rich Advertising Opportunities - Pinterest's ad strategies are non-intrusive and integrated into the user experience, offering businesses an authentic way to connect with their audience. Alignment with Ethical Business Practices - Pinterest’s partnerships with mental health organizations and its commitment to user well-being resonate with modern consumers who value social responsibility. Focus on Inspiration Over Engagement Metrics - Unlike other platforms that focus on keeping users scrolling, Pinterest prioritizes helping users take action, whether it’s saving an idea, purchasing a product, or visiting a website. Hi Reader, It seems that we have access back to TikTok for the time being but I honestly don't know how long that is going to be for. The law did pass both chambers and get signed into law. Then SCOTUS upheld it so if at any point in time a new law doesn't get passed rescinding the old one or the app doesn't get sold it's still could go away. With that being said I made a video on exactly what I would do right now if I were you and I relied on TikTok for my business. The crucial lesson for...
